Hotep is right about the broad public desire for exiting the EU. He's also right about the delay and tergiversation which have occurred since 23rd June. It's disgraceful that the Tories haven't even started the negotiations yet, and this was certainly a factor in the election result. It would be foolish of course to deny that another factor was tactical voting by a relatively small but dedicated body of EU-enthusiasts. A much larger impact however seems to have been attributable to working class UKIP voters (the Brexit battle won, as they supposed) returning to their ancestral home, the Labour Party, rather than transferring their ballots, as Mrs May & Co seem to have expected, to the Conservatives. At all events it is a potentially disastrous outcome for the country at a time when, for other reasons besides "Europe", we need strong leadership - something which neither Labour nor Conservatives can now deliver.
