This has got to be down to pure laziness on the part of those organising the Solicitors Qualification Exam.

Of course training providers will be the ones with the technical expertise to set and mark exams, but to have just one training provider set and mark the assessments, (if that is what is being proposed and from the article it seems that way to me), is being lazy.

I understand that liaising with the very many training providers with the necessary technical expertise is time-consuming, but I see no alternative but to do just that if the new solicitors qualifying exam is to have any real credibility.

When it comes to the solicitors qualifying exam I have rolled my eyes so often now the wonder is that I can still look straight ahead.

How hard is it to have an externally set exam that is anonymously and externally marked in which we can all have some confidence?
