Market has changed immeasurably. Majority of work seems to be done by estate agent panel solicitors and internet firms. Because they have to pay referral fees, sometimes a large percentage of overall fees, you are far more likely to be dealing with over worked, poor quality conveyancers. That is the reality of the race to the bottom. The client loses, they just don't know it.

We have upped our prices and spent time on our website, marketing etc. As a result we have maintained market share but if we wanted to grow it would have to offer referral fees.

Fortunately we are long established and have a lot of repeat business. Along with our marketing that allows us the luxury of being able to choose whether to go down the referral fee or not. For many firms it is really a choice of whether to do conveyancing or not.

Has all started to get rather grubby! Arguably makes a mockery of the 'profession.'
