Access to Justice is dead. It doesn't matter how many times the Department of Health, the MoJ or Lord Jackson claim that the reforms are designed to promote access to justice, it still doesn't make it true.

The Fixed Costs that have been introduced already have denied access to justice for many. Introducing more will only make this worse.

The lack of legal aid has denied access to justice for thousands and has, in fact increased government spend rather than decreased it.

The increase in court fees has absolutely denied access to justice (the upper level of £10k for the court fee is the same as the deposit required for an average house - and we have all seen in the news how many people can afford that). Whilst ET fees have been ruled unlawful, there are still many other fees that should be deemed so. It is also notable that whilst solicitors are expected to work at a loss, the court made a massive profit from court fees in the last year. Is that what the court system in the UK is for now? To generate income for Government at the expense of justice?

LASPO is a failure. Anyone who has any doubt should read the Justice Committee report: Impact of Changes to Civil Legal Aid under Part 1 of LASPO- https://publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm201415/cmselect/cmjust/311/31113.htm

And yet, they never learn, and nor it seems do they care...
