I think the idea of the article is to point out that the defendant's aren't going to come out of this smelling of roses either... - it's not an "exciting headline", but I don't think that's the purpose of the article. It's more of a shot back at the holiday companies.

Rightly so, there has been widespread coverage of the "bogus" claims infecting this area, however we very rarely see cases being reported on where the claimants have genuinely fallen ill and have been awarded compensation. These big holiday companies are using their "deep pockets" to fund articles telling the public that "all holiday claims are fake" and people making these claims "are driving up the cost of holidays", yet even when they have been proven to be guilty of causing sickness, they still refuse to pay the claimants their compensation on time.

More information needs to be shared between claimant lawyers, not only to prove holiday companies of being negligent, but to help rid the market of fraudulent claims - something I'm sure both sides of the fence will agree on.
