Anon at 11.04am - whilst I appreciate your stance, I would argue that paralegals are not pointless as you assert. Being in the PI market is hard. The fees are low and the work (although a lot of it automated) is not automatically straightforward. The clients' demands are still what they were when fees were not fixed and firms have had to tighten their belts. The lower fees has undoubtedly led to more and more unqualified paralegals being employed. Lower fees also lead to higher workloads and some people just aren't trained, which in some instances is not the "pointless" paralegal's fault.

Whilst sometimes rewarding, it can be tough and I'm glad to be out of it. No more fighting with insurers to get agreements or settlements and then being criticised for issuing to get things moving.
