Much of the problem with this market is all the backhanders and informal (and illegal) referral agreements (and payments).
I'm a Claimant lawyer.
My fiancee had a no-fault RTA when hit at low speed from behind at a zebra crossing. No injuries. She called the RAC as she thought the rear bumper was scraping the back wheel. RAC attended and fixed it in a jiffy. She was able to drive home. She did not notify her insurers as there were no injuries and the RAC indicated they would arrange repairs.
For the next 9 months she was hounded (almost daily) by a firm of solicitors (who shall remain nameless) to bring a claim for personal injuries, despite telling them every single time she wasn't injured. She was even told that the other driver had recieved his compensation so why shouldn't she? This was from a firm of solicitors seemingly referred the claim, without my fiancee's knowledge, by her own breakdown company.
