Those who assure us that there will be "appropriate safeguards" and who talk about "dignified and voluntary" exits might care to read about what is already happening in Canada, Belgium and the Netherlands - see e.g https://www.firstthings.com/web-exclusives/2017/09/euthanasia-for-alzheimers-patients

People advocating for so-called assisted dying might also find it sobering to read the Groningen Protocol https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Groningen_Protocol under which disabled children can be euthanized. It is amazing that so few journalists in this country mention these cases in the discussion on the subject.

Apocryphally, nursing homes are springing up in Germany near the Dutch and Belgian borders because older people in those countries are afraid of going into a home in their own country in case they are bumped off against their will.
