Poor service at London County Courts is nothing new. In about 1988 I needed to speak urgently to a listing office, I think at Central London. I could not get any reply despite ringing numerous times and letting the phone just ring and ring (this was before the advent of email or social media and, evidently, the use of answering machines). I was about to get onto the Tube up to Regents Park when I hit upon the idea of ringing up the (then) Lord Chancellor's Department. Somewhat tongue in cheek I complained that no-one was answering the phone at the County Court in question, and was it in fact open? They said they would investigate. Ten minutes later I got a call from the listing clerk in question....! I am not sure that MOJ would provide such a snappy (or free) service to practitioners now...?!
