"...Suspecting a witness for the other side might not be the most honest, I asked for a perjury warning to be given before he gave evidence. Cue a full-on 5 minute shouty rant about what the judge would do to anyone caught lying in his court, followed by the witness going to pieces completely.

Also, they're good for after-dinner stories. .."

Indeed, and good for Appeal points as well. I hope you end up with a tolerant Instructing Solicitor, when the Claimant then goes Case Stated or on Appeal to say they were intimidated in giving their evidence.
