The GPs in this country are underfunded and limited in number given a rising and ageing population.

The GPs are therefore having to cut corners or attempt new initiatives such as telephone consultations or using non-GP staff in an attempt to deal with their workload.

Cutting corners and not complying with proven principles of medical treatment i.e. physical examination, will lead to more claims for negligence.

Negligence costs money and someone has to pay for the damages and costs that arise from that negligence.

To use medical terminology (loosely) - the rising cost of negligence claims is a symptom. The underlying disease is the lack of quality healthcare in GP practices and the NHS generally, and the cause of that is lack of funding. Even quality people cannot hold back the decline.

But claimant clin neg solicitors will get the blame.
