It appears from the article that Blockchain exchanges contracts. Some years ago I completed the acquisition of a leasehold premises in less than four hours, start to finish. His included reviewing the proposed lease, and the freehold legal title, dealing with preliminary enquiries and a personal search. This was what the client wanted. Most of the time, there is nothing adverse to be found. Generally, these days, even if there is something adverse, or perceived to be, nothing is done about it except throwing an indemnity policy at it. Certainly, property transactions take far too long, largely because a lot of practitioners have little training in what they're doing or looking for, try to answers every email the moment it comes in and can only do a rudimentary job because the fee is so low. Lawyers spend far too long creating problems for themselves to solve. How many lawyers receive documents, carry out a review, report to the client and ask the client what it wants to do, if something is adverse is found? Many just carry on with what the lawyer thinks is the correct action without an instruction. No system will remove the correct actions as every transaction is different. The sooner we get back to properly trained lawyers doing a proper job the better.
