So what has civil litigation got to do with fairness to taxpayers?

How is it fair to claimants to put significant burdens in their path to recovering compensation?

At least the ABI et al have stopped the less than wholly honest cant about PI claims driving policy premium rises, but is it not time they should be required to accept claims numbers and claims costs have fallen while premiums have increased.

Yes the costs of repairs has increased as cars become more complex but the number of vehicle thefts is at an all time low and is falling still further.

I am yet to hear the ABI pronounce on how LIPs will present claims and whether medical evidence will be required to support those claims . . . the cynic in me suggests that once the reforms come in they'll say to their customers / prospective customers 'unless you have a solicitor acting in real terms you won't be able to make a claim so why not buy our BTE LEI and then should the worse happen we can 'recommend' you to our pet claimant PI firm'.

Anyway over to the insurers shills to tell us STIs are a fraud and no one needs lawyers anyway . . . pathetic schadenfreude I know but it will be some comfort that a number of them will also lose their jobs should the reforms bite.
