How about some relaxation for those part-time duty solicitors who for reasons of child care cannot go out at all times of the night and cannot work for more than two days per week. Its really pushing it to get 14 hours "contract work" per week. The contract basically says if you are part time and have kids, you may not be compliant and therefore should no longer be a duty solicitor. Is that not clear discrimination towards mothers wishing to return to work but only part-time, a request that by law their employers are required to consider? Do equality laws or maternity related rights not apply to the LAA? Can't wait for the first contract manager to argue the point and issue a contract notice. Imagine the Judicial Review on that.
