As a solicitor with absolutely no knowledge in probate, I can see the benefits of an online will writing process Will created using software in accordance with clients' instructions. Client prepares a will through solicitors and lists Executor and beneficiaries' names and address. Client and witnesses then digitally sign the will, which is then automatically sent to the probate registry where it will be stored. Upon notification of death (i.e. through the "Tell Us Once" service), the executor is notified and is sent all the necessary paperwork to carry out probate.

Apologies if I am being naïve or if that all seems too simplistic, but surely where people's legacies are concerned, the system is capable of being digitised to help speed processes up, rather than rely on hunting round cupboards and solicitors offices for paper wills that may or may not exist.
