I thoroughly disagree with the writer that cannot see why declaring nationality can be prejudicial- I can assure you - as a non British white Lawyer it most certainly can be. Nationality is simply irrelevant save where a matter of national security or terrorism where it is of course relevant. To be asked either age, gender or nationality- all of which can be prejudicial in the wrong hands is simply irrelevant to everything including jobs or any form of judgement. I am a firm believer that these questions should never be asked or need to be disclosed. I have friends from the US now living in London as lawyers that are in horror at these questions being asked on CV or interviews - the UK is now more backward than the US in these areas and we think we are more progressive and liberal ? sadly not - the UK is now lagging behind the rest of the developed world in almost every area impacting on Equality/ our governments simply did not keep with monitoring compliance (as usual) - they implemented laws and then forgot about them and we see the resurrection of it all today. In my view we have gone backwards and so I consider this decision an excellent development.
