A variety of regulators continue to say that there must be price transparency. However, while all of these regulators are terribly efficient in producing reports of questionable value to the general public, none of them does anything constructive to pinpoint precisely how price disclosure can work in practice. How can you give a price to something which you cannot quantify without first having some basic information to go on, at the very least ? To do otherwise, is misleading and deceptive advertising . As for competitive or affordable services, they already exist but the regulators ignore them in the profession-wide demand for price transparency. You can't eat an elephant in one mouthful. Exactly how does the Legal Services Consumers Panel or the LSB actually help consumers find the services they need ? Answer : they don't, they just write reports.
