Of course the 14 hour rule and the requirement of undertaking 3 cases per month on a rolling basis ensures no ghost duty solicitors are on the rotas. This is necessary to ensure that the ghost solicitors are not able to sell the slots. If solicitors are not available to work during office hours due to child minding issues then it's upto them to swap it for a court duty on Saturday. It simply requires them to check the rota and do a swap once a month. It's ridiculous to suggest discrimination. This requirement of 14 hours mostly affects big firms who have the resources to buy slots. The rule should remain to ensure the integrity of the duty solicitor rotas.
