How does this help fee -earner efficiency and profitability? It does not. 25 years ago I was assisted by a full time secretary and a part time secretary and billed 8 times my salary (there was a good bonus each year for all of us). Now (in a different firm) 75 fee earners are "supported" by three secretaries and a billing administrator (we lost the other two administrators about a year ago). No point dictating anything due to slow turn-around times and some of us have even been known to photocopy our own trial master bundles ... absolute madness (and I bill about 4 times my salary now).
