Insurance companies have no interest in saving motorists money. I've years with no claims and every year when my renewal comes through its significantly more expensive than the previous year despite no claim made...

This then means going to other insurers for a quote and eventually finding one that is close (always more expensive than what I paid the previous year) and go for the one closest to what I paid the year before.

The next year the whole merry go round starts all over again and the premium ticks up and up slowly. But... we have to have insurance because its illegal to not have it.

Insurance is paying a premium in case s**t happens. .... When s**t doesn't happen you don't get any of your money back for not costing the insurer anything... no, no, no you get rewarded with a more expensive renewal quote.

Saying someone being involved in a NONE fault accident and hit by someone else is more of a risk is ridiculous as they aren't the person who caused the accident or made the mistake, so why should they have an increase? They haven't cost the insurer money through their actions. That logic is massively flawed.

They will however get offered less than what their car is worth if written off however and then have to go through a search and pay out more of their own money in order to replace a car they were happy with until someone else collided with it.

Personally I can not wait until driver less cars come in as it means they'll be no driver error or accidents (supposedly) and car insurance will be completely unnecessary as a result and the whole scam of car insurance will be dead in the water.
