I've had a small number of posters taking previous potshots at my belief that clients should be called clients and not consumers.
I still hold that view. When all of these non-entity regulatory review busy-bodies insist on telling us how the poor consumers are getting a bad deal, I switch off.
Not one client should ever leave a first encounter with a solicitor without knowing what the costs from that point are going to be. It's quite simple. Some firms won't charge for a first initial meeting, whereas others may do (and will tell the client before that meeting what that cost is). Once the meeting is completed, and the solicitor knows more or less what the problem is that the client has, the solicitor can safely give an estimate or fixed fee quote for the work that is going to be required.
Again, it's simple and doesn't need to be changed.
