This really isn't boring at all. It's business. The idea of relaxing profit share from profit produced seems odd to me. Far better to consider imaginative ways of working together.
I like the format often used in Canada and Australia, where a group of lawyers form a firm, or work independently, but share office accommodation, reception and bookkeeping services. In this way your income is directly proportional to your successful efforts.
