Anon @12:20 GMT - there are 'scaled' punishments - people can be suspended or have conditions attached to their practising certificate, (and someone who has been struck off can apply to be reinstated).

It appears that this wasn't a one-off, rather there were a number of incidents and an attempt to fraudulently use the altered pass to appeal - so there was planned dishonesty, which is not something which can, or should, be overlooked.

It is very sad that he ruined his own career at such an early stage. Hopefully he is is young enough that he can find an alternative career path.
