I know a former Solicitor who was struck off. At the time I thought it was harsh - and I still do. Friend lost not only their career, but their marriage as well on account of the stress of it all, found it nigh on impossible to obtain work, but now many years later has started to claw their way back. I make no comment on the particular case here - my point is that (unless you have significant wealth) the consequences of a strike off are devastating. It's not simply a question of 'finding an alternative career path' as Anon 2.1 16.21 says - it's rebuilding your life when nobody will trust you.
