What do you expect in a non-unionised industry? Fee earners are encouraged not to discuss their 'HR encounters' with their colleagues. No-one will speak up for others who are persecuted in the name of business efficiency. Employees of such firms never will join ranks to protest against such behaviour. This allows firms to develop and operate 'divide and rule' strategy and it engenders a culture of fear and distrust. I know, having worked for a large commercial law firm where exactly that happened.
