I note 20:43's comment regarding billing targets and salary rates; I can assure you that as a junior with less pqe experience than Ms James had, my billing target is significantly higher for a salary well below £60,000. It is increasingly difficult to get paid what many perceive to be the market rate outside of London.

I find myself querying these circumstances and despite the demands and poor performance by the employers, I still feel she has been treated lightly. I struggle to think what her peers will make of her and whether they will be prepared to deal with her in proceedings or whether comments will be made in proceedings.

I am of the opinion that dishonesty, in whatever form, should be a strike off; solicitors over the years have been accused of many things, but if we do not hold ourselves to account properly maybe what has been said for years has a ring of truth.
