Pi lawyers feel agrieved because at the end of case they waive their right to any fees not recovered inter partes and take only what they get which is often only £500 . The client never has to pay the squillion pounds an hour so bemoaned of Below so it’s all a bit of pointless argument.

The client having happily had his fees capped to the said five hundred quid then suddenly challenges the success fee which is reality just his often small contribution to the unrecovered fees. In most cases the total does not exceed the 1250 ish agreed by DJ Lumb in the A &A v Post Office ( ?) case as being reasonable so the overall amount received here is beyond argument. Thus the Solicitors give away with one hand that which is being snatched away from the other Hence the outrage.
