A good summary of the state of play I think.

What I don’t understand about this whole thing is this - surely if these deductions are lawful, and fair, these challenges will die off very quickly?

If I was a PI practitioner (and I left that game years ago – thank God!) and I was confident in my charging practices I would be inviting these clients to bring it on.

In fact, the solicitors complaining about these challenges could stand to make a lot of money for themselves if the challenges are unsuccessful and their bills are upheld.

From what I gather about the modern low value PI industry, I rather suspect that when some of these substantive cases get before a Judge who can scrutinise what is going on the picture will become rather clearer. And I suspect it’s the PI solicitors who are going to come off rather badly, and not those bringing the challenges….
