The SQE is a disaster in the making: the SRA's purported justification is to advance social mobility in the profession. The contrary will happen: once they remove all quality indicators by reducing the criteria from the [already easy-to-pass] LPC to the SQE, the *only* reliably way for law firms to select competent candidates will be to rely on Oxbridge and Russell Group universities (with a token sprinkling of diversity candidates from outwith that group to appease the SRA). Rather than expanding social mobility, the SRA are pulling up the ladder.

This appears to have been the work of a small clique of people in the SRA who are simply unqualified to do their job. They, and the wider SRA, need to be brought to heel. Hopefully the LSB will do that.
