Wouldn't it have been kinder for the colleague, instead of recording the messages and reporting him , to simply say I don't agree with your views or language don't send me anymore thank you . However reprehensible his views holding them is not yet a crime ( but we need to be careful as we are dangerously moving in that direction - see new Puritanism and of course Orwell ) and however boorish , neither is expressing them provided he is not inciting violence or racial hatred. The hopeless catch all word " offensive " I find offensive as that's in the eye of the beholder . Personally I'm not afraid of any language it's just the lies you hear politicians peddle every day which I can't stand
