Anin @ 18.27 You say "The reality is likely that 80% of coroner's time is spent on 20% of the cases that merit it, and that this dispute concerns whether she or someone from her office needs to put aside 20 minutes every morning for the religious deceased within the 80% of cases that don't form the bulk of her work. "

If that is the case, then the argument should surely be that the coroner should, and could, take 30 minutes, or an hour, each morning, and deal with the 80% of cases which don't require more in depth analysis, not just the proportion of that 80% which relate to religious families?

I think many of us are concerned at the suggestion that religious belief should allow queue jumping at the expense of others who are also waiting for a similar service, because religious people are not the only ones distressed by delays.

I like the suggestion to ask people when the anticipated funeral date is, is a good one, as it then allows equal treatment of those wanting a quick funeral for whatever reason, and allows a coroner to better balance things.
