A Family Law barrister I used to instruct on a regular basis once told me that it is undoubtedly common practice for lawyers and accountants with reasonable assets to be "creative" in divorce proceedings in how they hide anything they can, and/or undervalue whatever else they can. Bit of a no-brainer, it seems to me.

So, could this be the thin end of the wedge. How long will it be before the SRA decide they haven't had enough strike offs recently, and commission detailed forensic investigations into every solicitor identified as having been involved in divorce proceedings, with a view to ascertaining whether or not they've hidden assets and/or been perhaps less than entirely honest when appending their signature to the Statement of Truth in Form E or as the case may be, doubtless also charging every such solicitor a small fortune for doing so.
