When I did my studies I understood that the conviction rate was 79%. So for a 6% increase in convictions, rightly or wrongly, we have had the assaults on the rights of individuals clearly and eloquently highlighted as a history in Geoffrey Robertson Freedom the Individual and the Law (i.e. changes to peremptory challenge, rights to silence etc .. etc ...

This worries me though Alison Saunders can smile away and say that she has increased convictions of those the particular flavour of the day say should be convicted ....... with a little assistance of unlimited public funds of course .....
