Yet again we are witnessing the absence of joined-up-thinking.

Closing a court in Buxton may save a few pounds from the Court Services costs bill but what does it add to the cost for the police and legal-aid funded representatives who end up wasting 3-4 hours each time they make the round trip to Chesterfield?

And if "courts are utilised at [only] 58% of their capacity" but there are increasing delays in getting cases listed then there must be other problems with the system, and closing court buildings won't fix these.
