Maybe £20,000 plus £14,000 costs was all she had? No suggestion of dishonesty - punishment was for being naive and trusting - while presumably the partner, having stolen half a million quid, is on his way to jail if not already there.
Obviously one partner can't legally delegate responsibility for the accounts, otherwise there wouldn't have been any disciplinary proceedings, would there?
