I wonder how much of this is due to the change in Professional Exams from the Law Society Finals to the LPC?

Under the latter more rigorous exams, once one had passed (and one had at least two attempts), then the firm one went to (and there was an opening as there were 5000 places for 5000 articles), had no option but to look after the employee / clerk.

Also of course, this was pre-CMC's and Claims handling Firms where the articled clerk was essential for billing a higher hourly rate. Now any monkey can charge £180.00 p/hr.

If one has pressure to attempt to paralegal into articles and serious pressure once one is there, can mental health problems be really surprising?

Scruff.
