If police raid someone's home they should expect some publicity- we don't want to imitate the secret practices of totalitarian states. The police should however have been challenged over their assessment of the worth of the evidence that led them to do this.

The problem is that the BBC appear to have been in cahoots with the police to publicise and sensationalise the event; journalistic scepticism went out of the window and the reporting was insufficiently independent. What was presented was News as Reality TV where events are set up, staged and sensationalised for audience entertainment.
