The number of complaints and found to be justified after some sort of fair and judicial process, including mutual cross-examination, these are barristers and can cope with it - not the number of complaints.

As for the allocation of work: I am the solicitor and I allocate the work when I put the name of X or Y on the back of the instructions. Not the clerk, and in fact nobody for whom anyone in chambers is liable. If I only ever send work to Mr White-man at No 1 Equity Chambers it is nobody's business but mine whether r not I also send work to Ms Black-woman (or come to that Mr/Ms Trans if you like) at No 2 Equity Chambers next door.
