At times, I confess that I think the diversity subject gets out of hand - I highly doubt Oxford University is picking people based on the colour of their skin. Indeed, per the first comment on this article, Oxford Uni is accepting BAME applicants above the level of actual ethnic diversity in the UK. We should be focusing on tackling genuine racism and discrimination, rather than looking for it where it doesn't exist.

I would rather a decision be made between two similarly qualified candidates on the toss of a coin than on ethnicity. Perfectly equal, and there can be no suggestion that the coin has discriminated either positively or negatively. These days, the ethnicity of the applicant should not even be thought about.
