I do wonder how these stories get into the press in the first place. Do the families court the attention of the media in the hope of garnering support for their "cause", only to find the media turning on them and accusing them of being greedy? The stories inevitably seem to be accompanied by staged photos of the family in question sporting hangdog expressions and include quotes complaining of their treatment by the local housing authority, so I can only guess they are drawn in, egged on, chewed up and spat out by the journalists, which is pretty shameless, although not in any way surprising.
