"The 'alpha-male' culture in some organisations, said the report, was evident in bonus negotiations, where it was perceived that men could argue more forcefully for bonuses than women."

I'm sorry but this doesn't make sense. Is it saying that there IS an alpha-male culture because men CAN argue more forcefully for bonuses, or is it saying there's a perception that men could argue more forcefully? If it's the latter (which is how I read it), then what does it matter if it's just a perception?

"Chair Nicky Morgan said: ’The next step must be for firms to set out how they will abolish their gender pay gap and support the progression of women. Firms should focus on changing the culture in financial services firms, which remains a deterrent for women, especially the bonus culture."

Nicky Morgan, that beacon of principle and decency. So much so that was against same sex marriage and then subsequently became Minister for Women and Equalities and suddenly became in favour of it. She has yet to explain to me why abolishing a 'gender pay gap' (if there is such a thing, after all, aren't we all able to change our gender at will?) is a good or necessary thing.
