Can anyone tell me what is 'an associate' and why, seemingly, one becomes one on qualification with the major London firms? Is it just an 'upgrade' tag to justify charging clients more for the time that such people record against a file? How long will it be before, in such firms, NQs are described - and charged out - as 'partners' and the grades above them as 'partner plus', 'super partner', 'megapartner' and so forth?
