Around the same time as the Trump/Jong Un summit, Xi/Putin also had a conference. Although unaware of it being widely reported, I did catch a glimpse of the conference. Xi spoke out against protectionism and hailed globalisation. I fell about in hysterics. For me, a fine example of lip-service, or less politely, its doctrine of deception being on show.

It is a quandary; I argue with myself back and forth. The people of the world need a UN, but not an impotent one.

I always question to what extent tolerance or turning a blind-eye for the perceived greater good is actually helpful. The masters of deception will always politic or exploit every issue or other’s tolerances for their own aims/agendas, but is a passive response to them when caught out helpful? Does this passivity too often back-fire?

Why have world problems grown with our increased tolerance, acceptance and global sharing? Should the world not be a better, not worse place?

The official number of displaced people is over 65 million and growing, but it would come as no surprise to me if the real number was double.

So, with an impotent UN, at what point will more countries take a firmer stance (as the USA has) to ebb the tide? Are countries really expected to not mitigate against their own pressures/decline?

Resources are finite in all countries and there is risk that over time too many of them will be overwhelmed and unable to cope – the UK systems are “creaking” as are other European countries.

Any social or financial decline of the countries with a liberal global approach invariably creates a domino effect on their contribution to the global effort. What then of those people who have chosen to remain in their own countries - what is to become of them – who will help them? They are undoubtedly suffering the most.

I want to protect the world; I want worldwide peace and harmony; I want parents with their children; I want people to live in their own homes, to not live in poverty, or in fear of, or suffer violence, death, persecution or oppression.

Too many problems, too much politicking and papering over the cracks!
