Paul - I quite agree. I am dealing with a prof neg case where my chap's insurer made offers and paid out without his knowledge.

History shows that people will do whatever they can to make money, and if that is aided by insurers then they are all the happier for it. On the flip side insurers just paying up may well be cheaper than employing people to fight cases. Both are wrong but you reap what you sow.
