In my experience a yellow reflective jacket is the best way of getting past security without being checked.
When we questioned this at our local court we were told, quite rightly, that if a family member had been taken hostage then a good number of us, including court staff and judges (and dare I say it - security guards) would carry something dangerous into a building in the hope of protecting our loved ones.
