Patrick Stevens - actually airline staff do have the same security procedures as passengers. They usually use a different channel, because believe it or not there's a certain amount of prep and briefing before they board, and time is (literally when being paid by time) money. They all also have security clearance, and if something is amiss (e.g. security photo id missing) they aren't allowed to fly, so aren't paid.
