I would never have considered myself as vulnerable and I am not advocating that Scott-Moncrieff's suggestions are the way forward. Possibly I am, once again, grasping onto the Law Gazette headlines to voice my deep concerns.

Once again I feel crushed and overwhelmed and involved in battles I don't fully understand (in a legal sense). My local Council have failed to take enforcement action in circumstances involving unauthorised development which directly affects me and neighbouring properties and the Parish Council have also voiced their concerns. The Planning Department have written a report which clearly states that enforcement action should be taken but the Councillors have granted planning permission instead - in a meeting that didn't address any of the legitimate concerns raised and excluded the press and public.

As a person directly affected by the Building I understand that I am in a position to request a judicial review? but even the thought of pre-action protocols, court proceedings and costs makes me shake in terror. But the overwhelming feeling of injustice also makes me rage... but I don't know who to turn to apart from my 'Agony Aunt' - the Law Gazette. I wonder... is there really any hope for people like me... against organisations such as the Council where there wouldn't be any kind of 'payout'.
