"Whether or not Ubbi intended to leave his will unchanged only he will know."

That being the case, why is the law on wills considered to be "archaic" and "moribund" (rather different things, by the way)? In this respect Victorian law merely reflects the eternal truth that only individuals can know their own will or should decide the disposition of their property; and the so-called technicalities are thereto prevent, so far as possible, the substitution of somebody else's will or whim. If I refuse, or merely fail, to deliver my will during life, who is going to second-guess me after death?
