I recall locuming at a firm which was large enough to have all the compliance stuff down to a "T", but where a whole floor of paralegals was supervised by one partner, who was rarely in the office, and a part-time solicitor. The firm sailed on to any lender panel.

Conversely, when I worked for a sole practitioner who specialised in conveyancing and who had an unblemished record, it was very difficult for the firm to get on to lender panels. But I'd take the sole practitioner solicitor dealing with my matter over a whole warehouse of poorly supervised paralegals any day.
