Anon 06.09 10:53 I think that assumption is one that the public in general have, albeit one which is mistaken. People and even solicitors actually have a very poor understanding of how insurance works. I remember dealing with one parter of a small local solicitor dealing with a claim who was absolutley apoplectic I had the nerve to propose a split liability settlement on the case, he didn't think I'd the right to do so (from memory he relented). I've also known people to try and claim against their own insurer for an injury suffered in an accident that they themselves caused, they expect insuers to deny liability when they're blatantly at fault, they don't pay for their policy and expect the insuer to deal with a claim being made against them...There is so many myths and misunderstandings throughout that industry. Which makes policing it all the more difficult
